George A. Balko has over 30 years of experience in the areas of personal injury law, insurance litigation, product liability, municipal law, real estate law, professional negligence law, and probate litigation.

Attorney Balko has successfully argued significant cases, including securing the largest first party liquor liability verdict to date in the state of Massachusetts, at $3.62 million. He has represented both towns and school districts in disputes that include allocation of state grants, recovered more than $2.2 million for a commercial property owner in an eminent domain case, and settled a wrongful death suit on behalf of a widow for $2.2 million.

Attorney Balko has successfully defended product liability cases, in both state and federal courts. Exemplar cases involved allegations of a defective grinding wheel, of a defective injection molding machine, and of a defective mechanical jack. Each involved serious injuries, and in each case, Attorney Balko either obtained defense verdicts or advantageous settlements at figures below what the plaintiff attorneys had indicated were the minimum acceptable amounts. He has also defended numerous personal injury cases, both in the context of premises liability and generally.

Attorney Balko is a well-known and accomplished trial lawyer who previously was a Litigation Partner at Bowditch & Dewey, LLP in Worcester, where he practiced for twenty six years. He has consistently been named a “Super Lawyer” by Thompson Reuters, and has the highest AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell ®. Attorney Balko has also taught both litigation and personal injury law and has been widely published.

Attorney Balko is a graduate of Yale University and the University of California Hastings College of the Law. He is admitted to practice in the state and federal courts of Massachusetts and Connecticut, in the District of Columbia, and in the First Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals.

Attorney Balko is a resident of Holden, Ma where he has been the Town Moderator for sixteen years. Before that, he served on Holden’s Board of Health for six years, the last five as chairman. In addition, Attorney Balko has served as Town Counsel for the Town of Maynard.
